Kawasaki: history as a producer of motorcycles
Kawasaki is a very successful motorcycle builder that has a storied and rich history. They first entered the motorcycle industry as a builder of engines, building their first bikes in 1960. The first Kawasaki street bike was the B8, which spawned a motocross bike called the B8M. That bike is believed to be the forerunner to the modern like of KX motocross bikes. Kawasaki currently operates under the auspices of parent company Kawasaki Heavy industries; motorcycles are built by the consumer machinery and products division.
The motorcycle company continued its innovative ways through the 1970s, beginning the Jet Ski watercraft line. Almost four decades later, Kawasaki is still producing great personal watercraft such as the Ultra 260X and the 800 SX-R. In 1981, Kawasaki produced its first all terrain vehicle, the KLT200; it was followed a few years later by the Bayou 185 four wheeler.
Kawasaki was the first Japanese motorcycle builder to enter the utility-vehicle market, with the Mule. Its popularity has endured; many people use Mules to do farm and other heavy work. For those that want their work with a side of fun, Kawasaki now offers the Teryx 750. The company offers the widest range of recreational vehicles of any motorcycle manufacturer; no matter what style of riding you engage in, there's a Kawasaki motorcycle to suit your tastes.
